Say to the world… I WAS THERE. At the BEST. PARTY. EVER! Join people from around the world to bring in the New Year at one of the world’s biggest and best outdoor parties with live music, DJs, street entertainment and the ultimate fireworks display from Edinburgh Castle.

From 7:30pm, Edinburgh will throw open its doors to the world. Join us at the three Street Party stages and other stages up and down Princes Street to celebrate the New Year in the heart of the city.

From the moment the doors open at 7pm, till after the midnight bells have fallen silent, bands and DJs, street performers and dancers, acrobats, disco divas and fire eaters will all combine to make it the party of a lifetime.

At midnight, the ultimate fireworks display will mark the end of the old year and usher in 2019 set against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

The full line-up for the Street Party stages will be announced in September. This event does not permit children under the age of 12. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21.

Concert in the Gardens

31st December: 8pm – 1am

Celebrate Hogmanay in spectacular style and escape the Street Party crowds at the Concert in the Gardens main stage, featuring our festival headliners.

Previous headliners have included Paolo Nutini, Biffy Clyro, Pet Shop Boys, Lily Allen, Primal Scream, Kasabian, and Blondie.

At midnight, say goodbye to 2018 and welcome in 2019 with the best views in the house of the fireworks over Edinburgh Castle.

With amazing views of both the main stage and the fireworks, this really is your ticket to the ultimate, memorable Hogmanay experience.

A ticket for Concert in the Gardens will include a wristband for access to the Street Party. Doors will open from 8pm, event starts at 9pm.

No person under 12yrs permitted at the Concert in the Gardens. Anyone under 16yrs must be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs of age.

Torchlight Procession

30th December: 7pm
£13 per person (Ticket with Torch) | £3per person (Ticket only)

A spectacular sea of light illuminates the winter night, to mark the opening of Edinburgh’s New Year celebrations. Blaze through the city accompanied by a cast of pipers and drummers, bear a torch or grab a spot and watch the river of light flow through the heart of Edinburgh.

There are lots of ways to take part: you can grab a great spot in Holyrood Park to watch the procession approach its final destination or why not join the parade as a torch bearer?

The procession will have three starting points (St Giles Street, North Bridge and South Bridge) and make its way down the Royal Mile towards Holyrood Park, passing Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood House for a breathtaking fireworks finale against the backdrop of the majestic Calton Hill.

There is no age limit for this event and it is family friendly. Buggies and pushchairs are not permitted.

Bairns Afore

31st December: 5pm – 6pm

A new event for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, this is one for the families! Celebrate with the kids, with spectacular fireworks and family entertainment, and all afore bedtime!

This Hogmanay, a brand new event gives parents and children an opportunity to enjoy an hour of family fun, including their own spectacular fireworks display, ahead of the Street Party later in the evening.

Leading entertainers will perform on the main stage in West Princes Street Gardens, before it’s time to look up, ooh and ahh, as fireworks light up the sky over Edinburgh Castle!

Bairns Afore gives families the chance to enjoy their own Hogmanay experience, and still have the kids tucked up in bed well before the midnight bells.

Ceilidh Under the Castle

31st December: 8:30pm – 1am
£40 supplement per person

Dance the night away at a traditional Scottish ceilidh, under the stunning backdrop of the iconic Edinburgh Castle.

Experience the best of Scotland at the Ceilidh under the Castle. Whirl or jig, fling or be flung under Edinburgh Castle. Join hands with old friends and new to dance in the new year with a full ceilidh band and plenty of local food and drink to keep you spinning all night.

At midnight, welcome in 2019 with a breathtaking fireworks display, amidst the historic setting of the majestic Edinburgh Castle.

Loony Dook

1st January: 12:30pm

Get 2019 off to a fresh start with a bracing New Year’s Day dip in the freezing River Forth!

Silliness is good for the soul – along with a good dose of freezing seawater! Combat that hangover by dressing up and running into the revitalising waters of the Firth of Forth at one of Scotland’s finest Hogmanay traditions and raise some money for charity.

Are you up for the challenge?

Dookers will march the length of the High Street as part of the Dooker Parade before launching themselves into the freezing Firth of Forth, set against the backdrop of the iconic Forth Bridges, raising money for charities across the UK. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the Dookers at various vantage points along the route or down on the beach. South Queensferry has a variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants, all open on New Year’s Day.
